It was just two days ago when a friend directed me to www.eliproject.com to see this handsome little boy she has been praying for. Before I could find this little boy, I saw the prettiest little girl with blonde hair & dark eyes. She caught my attention & my heart. She immediately reminded me of Marcus. I called Wayne to the computer & asked him, “Who does she look like?” He agreed she looked like our Marcus. I later asked Taylor & Tanner the same thing. They both thought she was adorable. Wayne said, “Why did you have to show her to me?” He too could not get her off his mind. We both prayed & slept on it. I asked him the next morning what he was thinking about. He said the same little girl you are. We were both feeling the nudge of God to pursue this little girl for ourselves. This could not be. This was not in our plans. We have 4 beautiful, healthy children, a schedule that works & “enough on our plate.” We have a major surgery to plan for. Marcus will be having spinal fusion surgery sometime in January. We are looking forward to spending the holidays together, healthy & well before that Big Day. I had it all planned out. Last night we brought Taylor & Tanner into the living room for a family meeting, devotion & a time of prayer. Taylor said YES before we could even ask. Tanner said, “She is an orphan with Down syndrome who needs a home. I want her to be my sister.” The Lord has done a great work in our family since adopting Marcus & Macey. Our children “get it.” This morning I posted on Facebook…God’s timing is most often not our timing. Little did I know I would be receiving my burning bush just a short time later. The phone rang, it was Shiner’s telling me they had a cancellation. A cancellation for Wednesday, like in 5 days. The surgeon wanted me called because Marcus was top priority. The surgeon was booked for the rest of the year. This was it! I did not have this MAJOR excuse not to pursue Masha. Marcus would be seen next week, home & recovering before the holidays even begin. He will have plenty of time to recover before we travel to Ukraine to rescue this waiting child. God took the biggest excuse I had & made the impossible happen. So we comitted! We are adopting Masha. A beautiful 3 year old girl in Eastern Europe who needs a family. God had our YES! Today He confirmed it!
What do we need? Prayers for our son Marcus, Dr. Samdani & the medical staff who will be caring for him. This is without a doubt a MAJOR surgery. I don’t have time to worry. I have plans to make. God continues to show me He is in control.
Please pray for the finances we need in such a short time to travel & be gone for 2 weeks. I have been blown away with how much progress we were able to make today. We got our tickets booked for Marcus & I. (Thanks to Shiners). Wayne was gifted with a voucher from South West to get him to & from Philly. (Thank You Lees) Pray we can travel together. He flies when there is space to do so. We were able to get Marcus’ blood work done this afternoon. We are booked for the 1st night in the Ronald McDonald house. Then we have to see if they will let Wayne stay there while I am at the hospital with Marcus or vice versa. They can not guarantee a spot without the patient staying there. So pray they let us stay. One parent will be with Marcus at ALL times, day & night. Wayne will come with us then travel home when Marcus is released from ICU & placed in a regular room. I will be there the entire time. We even have a plan for where the other 3 kids will stay next week. I’m telling you God is ALL over the details. Our social worker even called in the middle of all this to see when she could come over to update our homestudy. All this to say, when God moves, He moves. We are ready when He calls, no matter the call.
Thank you for loving, supporting & praying for our family.
Blessings,
Meghan
